Faith Academy football looks to bounce back against Cherokee
The Faith Academy of Marble Falls football team welcomes Cherokee to Britton Field for a 7 p.m. kickoff Friday, Oct. 11.
The Indians (4-1) are entering this contest after suffering their first loss of the season. It came against Benjamin 106-88. They beat Sidney 60-14, shut out Round Rock Christian 46-0 and Highland 49-0, and crushed Leakey 51-6.
Cherokee is led by junior quarterback Joel Valdez.
“They have a good team,” head coach Jay Silvers said. “They’re well coached, and they are a good group of kids.”
The Flames (2-4) will counter with a group of playmakers who are unafraid of contact, have speed to make plays, and enjoy competing.
They include Carter Fromberg, Wade Dillard, Andrew Houy and Landon Silvers.
The coach noted the contest against Cherokee is Faith’s final before starting District 4, Division II of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools.
The Flames have lost their last two games: 62-12 to Oglesby and 80-50 to Bulverde Gloria Deo.
And Jay Silvers knows the challenge his team is facing.
“I’d put them right up there with Oglesby,” he said. “They’re physical and a challenge. We’ll make adjustments and apply them.”
